History:

Burton Snowboards was founded in 1977 by Jake Carpenter, who grew the company into the largest snowboarding brand in the world. Carpenter was instrumental in getting snowboarding recognized, both campaigning for resorts to allow snowboarders and organizing and sponsoring the National Snowboarding Championships to bring recognition to the sport. Jake Carpenter built the world’s first snowboard factory, which made snowboards accessible for more people than ever before.

Technology:

Burton uses a single-channel binding-mounting system on all their board that they pioneered in 2008. This system, called EST, gives the rider more control and greater feel while on the board.

Riders:

The Burton team boasts some of the most well-known riders in snowboarding, including Shaun White, Kelly Clark, and Hannah Teter. Shaun creates a great deal of exposure for the sport, while also competing successfully in skateboarding. Kelly has won multiple medals including two in Olympic Games. Hannah is well-known for her charitable work, in addition to her success on the board.
